B1959–POWER LIFTGATE DRIVE CLUTCH CONTROL CIRCUIT HIGH

When Monitored:
Whenever the Power Liftgate is power opening or closing.
Set Condition:
The Power Liftgate Module has detected the clutch driver circuit current is under 0.5 amps.

Possible Causes

(Q201) LIFTGATE CLUTCH DRIVER CIRCUIT SHORT TO VOLTAGE

(Q201) LIFTGATE CLUTCH DRIVER CIRCUIT OPEN

(Z800) GROUND OPEN

POWER LIFTGATE DRIVE UNIT

POWER LIFTGATE MODULE

Does the scan tool display B1959–POWER LIFTGATE DRIVE CLUTCH CONTROL CIRCUIT HIGH?

Yes

Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors for an intermittent condition.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. (Refer to 8 - ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULES - STANDARD PROCEDURE).

2.(Q201) LIFTGATE CLUTCH DRIVER CIRCUIT SHORT TO VOLTAGE

Is there any voltage present?

No

Yes

Repair the (Q201) Liftgate Clutch Driver circuit for a short to voltage.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. (Refer to 8 - ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULES - STANDARD PROCEDURE).

3.(Q201) LIFTGATE CLUTCH DRIVER CIRCUIT OPEN

Is the resistance below 2.0 ohms?

Yes

Repair the (Q201) Liftgate Clutch Driver circuit for an open.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. (Refer to 8 - ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULES - STANDARD PROCEDURE).

4.CHECK THE (Z800) GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

Is the resistance below 2.0 ohms?

Yes

Replace the Power Liftgate Drive Unit in accordance with the service information.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. (Refer to 8 - ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULES - STANDARD PROCEDURE).

Repair the (Z800) Ground circuit for an open. If the (Z800) Ground circuit is OK, replace the Power Liftgate Module in accordance with service information.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. (Refer to 8 - ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULES - STANDARD PROCEDURE).
